Subject: Embedded PowerPoint Shows Display Incorrectly

Product: Blackboard 9

Question: Why aren't embedded PowerPoint shows not displayed correctly?

If a PowerPoint show is embedded in the course, it will not display properly in Firefox or Safari.  The error message that appears is: "This presentation contains content that your browser may not be able to show properly.  This presentation was optimized for more recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer.  If you would like to proceed anyway, click here."

To view the presentation, it is recommended that the user open the PowerPoint show in Internet Explorer.  However, if the user is on a Mac, this is not an option.  We recommend that the student email their instructor to request that the slides get re-posted as an attached .ppt or .pptx file, or to have the slides emailed to them directly.
